It's Q-School Season in Golf

Another season heading into its final stages on the world's pro tours. And another season of Qualifying Schools entering its first stages. The Q-School process is under way on the European Tour, and begins next week on the USPGA and LPGA tours.

The PGA Tour has three "pre-qualification" tournaments scheduled Sept. 14-17. Click on the location to view the entrants:

• Dade City, Fla. (Lake Jovita Country Club)
• Lincoln, Neb. (Yankee Hill Country Club)
• San Antonio, Texas (TPC San Antonio)

First-stage qualifiers for the USPGA begin in mid-October, with second-stage qualifiers in mid-November and the final-stage qualifier Dec. 1-6.

Pavin Picks Tiger, Zach, Cink, Fowler for US Ryder Cup Team

Team USA captain Corey Pavin announced his additions to the Ryder Cup today, and his four selections are Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink and Rickie Fowler.

The players on the American points list from 12 through 22 are essentially equal. You can make arguments for any of them. Pavin could have chosen anyone from among those players and been "right." Given that, his choices are good, safe picks.
